New Here? Jayne’s Baby Bank, Explained

Start here. This was our first post: two lines of welcome, published on 17 January 2024. In October 2026 we rewrote it as the place to begin. It covers what we have found, where to read it, and how to check it for yourself.

This is not Jayne’s Baby Bank’s website. It is an independent investigation into it.

Jayne’s Baby Bank has run shops, a “FREE foodbank” and donation appeals across south-east Wales, and for years it called itself a charity. It is run by Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, who trades as Jayne Price. Since January 2024 we have checked what she tells the public against the record. That means the register of charities, Companies House, the courts, councils, the NHS, the regulators, and her own posts, which we have kept.

The short version

  • It is not a charity. Jayne’s Baby Bank has never been on the register of charities, and an application to register it was refused in 2023. Since November 2025 a community interest company has carried the name. A CIC is not a charity.
  • She has used many names. Leases, court judgments and council letters hold at least seven versions of her name. Two County Court judgments, for £7,141 and £277, are in names she has said are not hers.
  • The qualifications did not check out. Neither of her names is on the nursing register. Eight NHS bodies in Wales have answered our questions, and not one holds a record of any arrangement with Jayne’s Baby Bank.
  • The backers she named said no. The Trussell Trust, FareShare, the Baby Bank Alliance and social services have each told us they have no such link with Jayne’s Baby Bank.
  • Every shop front has gone. Between 2023 and 2026 the landlords of five of its shops took them back. The one unit left, the donation centre, is under a fire service prohibition.
  • Nobody can see the money. It has never published accounts. We rebuilt four years of running costs from leases and rates: £186,000 to £242,000. Of the public funding claimed, we can confirm £1,000.
  • It raised safeguarding questions. We reported that a man jailed in 2013 for child sex offences worked and lived at its Pontypool premises; she denies he lived there. Within hours, her page published a fabricated message branding five local people paedophiles.

Who runs it, and her names

Her birth was registered as Carrie-Anne Ridsdale. She trades as Jayne Price, and since 7 November 2025 Jayne Price has been a director of JAYNE’S BABY BANK C.I.C., company number 16838920, with Gail Jenkins.

The paperwork tells a longer story. She signed the 2022 lease for a unit in Aberbargoed, as a deed, as “Ceri-Ann Ridsdale”. That is the name on the £7,141 judgment that followed, which she later said was “not even under my name”. She signed the 2024 lease for 6 Commercial Street, Pontypool, as Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, a name she has publicly denied is hers.

People may lawfully use more than one name. These are the names under which leases were signed and judgments entered, and a search under Jayne Price would not find them.

Charity, company and money

Jayne’s Baby Bank has never been a registered charity. Its signs and posts said “charity”, and in 2024 a food business registration gave its charity number as “Awaiting”. An application to register it with the Charity Commission was refused in 2023.

In November 2025 a community interest company was formed instead. A CIC is a company. It has no charity number, it answers to the CIC Regulator, not the Charity Commission, and it does not get a charity’s tax reliefs. Its first accounts are not due until 7 August 2027.

No accounts have ever been published, so we rebuilt the running costs ourselves, from leases, rating lists and her own posts. Rent, rates, electricity, water, trade waste and insurance from September 2022 to September 2026 come to between £186,000 and £242,000. At least £44,928 of public funding has been claimed. The only grant we can confirm is £1,000, from Pontypool Community Council in November 2024. In February 2026 the same council turned down a further request.

Nurse, midwife, NHS: the claims

In July 2023 she wrote: “I went to Uni at 39 and got my degree and diploma in nursing and bio chem! and now I’m doing a PHD”. By September 2026 her profile read “Former Student Nurse at Cardiff University”. Neither Carrie-Anne Ridsdale nor Jayne Price is on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register, and no degree certificate has been produced.

Her page said Jayne’s Baby Bank was “supported by Public Health Wales and Aneurin Bevan Health Board”. We put the question to every NHS body in Wales. Eight have answered, and not one holds a record of any arrangement with it. Aneurin Bevan found the books she said were “donated to the NHS staff” on one ward, “stored in the ward manager’s office and had not been issued to patients”.

The organisations that said no

For years her posts named the organisations behind her. We asked them.

The Trussell Trust: “Jayne’s Baby Bank is not a Trussell foodbank and has never been.” The Baby Bank Alliance: “This baby bank is not a member.” Caerphilly social services told us they do not refer families to it. Caerphilly Cares, the council’s support service, confirmed that Jayne’s Baby Bank “is not supported by their service”. FareShare: it “is not, and has never been, a member”. The Salvation Army’s trading company: “not authorised to collect our donations”. In 2024 the Fundraising Regulator confirmed it was not registered with them.

She said the Financial Conduct Authority had authorised her to use the word “charity”. The FCA does not regulate charities or their names. She said she had “a raffle license and a lottery license”. Caerphilly council’s records show no licence of any kind held at her Blackwood shop between October 2023 and July 2025.

The shops, one by one

By June 2025 Jayne’s Baby Bank was running six premises at once, across Caerphilly county and Torfaen. Then they went, one after another.

  • Aberbargoed, November 2023. The landlord’s agents re-entered the unit. A £7,141 judgment followed and is still unpaid.
  • Brynmawr, July 2024. The shop closed seven months after she signed for it.
  • Blackwood, July 2025. She gave the shop back, she said, over a “window tax”. The landlord said it had been left “completely insecure”.
  • Caerphilly, May 2026. In her words: “The landlord changed the locks on us when we failed to pay rent”.
  • Risca, June 2026. A notice at the shop: “repossessed by the landlord due to non-payment of rent.”
  • 5 Crane Street, Pontypool, August 2026. The owner took possession. The lease had ended seven months earlier, and the fire service had prohibited the shop’s use in March.
  • 6 Commercial Street, Pontypool, September 2026. The landlord took it back, 324 days after the lease expired. Police were called there twice in 21 days.

The one unit left, the Newbridge Road donation centre, is also the company’s registered office. It has been under a fire service prohibition since 31 March 2026. In October 2026 her son was photographed outside Principality House in Rogerstone, a former factory advertised at £30,000 a year. She has not confirmed taking it.

Safeguarding and harassment

In September 2026 we reported that a man jailed in 2013 for child sex offences had been working and living at the Pontypool premises. She denies that he lived there. Within hours, her page published screenshots from a misspelled “Dank Drangon” page that branded five local people a “child trafficking ring”. The real Dank Dragon disowned it the same day. We had seen the method before, in 2025.

In August 2026 she wrote that no one works or volunteers with her “who hasn’t had an enhanced DBS check”. Since April 2024 she has announced a free Lego club for children 51 times, and not one announcement gives a start date.

You are not alone in asking. Our Facebook group, Jayne’s Baby Bank Exposed, passed a million views within three weeks of being set up in January 2026, and now has more than 10,000 members.

Before you give, to anyone. Search the register of charities, and ask for a charity number if it is not on the shop, the post or the collection page. A community interest company is listed at Companies House, not on the register of charities. If you want to give baby items, these registered baby banks in South Wales are all on the register.

If you are worried about a child’s safety, call Gwent Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.

Tell us what you know

Much of what is on this site began with a message from a reader: a former volunteer, a landlord, someone who was there. If you know something, tell us through our contact page. We will not name you without your agreement.

Please do not send photographs of children, and please do not contact landlords, agents or property owners about her premises. Leave that to us and to the authorities.
