The short version
- On 18 March 2025 she posted that the Blackwood shop was changing: “We are not a charity shop, we are not for profit business”.
- In May 2025, two PayPal pages taking money for Jayne’s Baby Bank still described it as a charity. One said: “100% of profit goes towards the charity”. The other said: “We run charity shops and foodbanks in Wales”.
- Jayne’s Baby Bank is not a registered charity. PayPal itself advises people to give through charity profiles that its own team has vetted.
- Two months before the rebrand, in a video since deleted, she had told critics: “I don’t answer to the Charity Commission. I don’t answer to the council. I don’t answer to the police.”
- On 2 November 2026 both PayPal pages were still live, with the same words.

“We are not a charity shop”
Jayne’s Baby Bank has been trying to shed its “charity shop” label. On 18 March 2025 her page announced a new look for the Blackwood store (the post):
From today BLACKWOOD SUPERSTORE only carries boutique, vintage, vintage and designer sports wear. … We are not a charity shop, we are not for profit business, business women make money – lots of it – I choose to give all of it away helping Mothers and babies and children across South Wales.

Yet in May 2025 people could still send money through two PayPal pages, and both of them still described Jayne’s Baby Bank as a charity.

PayPal’s own advice
In January 2025 PayPal published guidance on charity scams (Spot and Avoid Common Charity Scams):
Scammers might pose as reputable charities or individuals supporting relief efforts to trick well-meaning people into making “donations” or sharing personal information through a variety of tactics.
We do not tolerate fraudulent activity on our platforms and work diligently to protect our customers. We recommend donating through trusted channels like PayPal Cause Hub and Venmo Charity Profiles, where the profiles of charities have been vetted by our team of experts.

A PayPal.Me page is a payment link, not one of those vetted charity profiles. As Jayne’s Baby Bank is not a registered charity, it cannot appear among them. Nor is it registered with the Fundraising Regulator.
“I don’t answer to nobody”
Two months before the rebrand, on 19 January 2025, she had a message for other groups. In a video she later deleted (the recording), she said:
… charities and … little groups, you are the ones that we’re going to take down because I don’t answer to nobody. I don’t answer to the Charity Commission. I don’t answer to the council. I don’t answer to the police. I don’t answer to nobody and they know that and I will take you down if you bother me or you bother anybody else.

“Because I’m popular”
Messages to us kept coming in. They came from mothers who say she targeted them personally, from former staff who now feel threatened, and from bystanders called out for simply commenting on prices. Some of those cases are set out in the weaponization of social media.
In a live video on 11 April 2025 (the recording), she compared her critics to school bullies:
You’re like a bunch of schoolgirls, yeah? Comprehensive schoolgirls trying to pick on the nicest, prettiest, loveliest girl that’s helping all the other girls in the school. That’s what you’re doing. You don’t like it because you’re jealous. Anyway, you’re making yourselves look really bad. … I don’t know why I bother sometimes.

In the same video she answered complaints about the state of her shops: “They keep going on about, oh, the shops are messed, the shops are messed. The shops are full of stock, because I’m popular.”
We see it differently. With tighter rules now in force at recycling centres across Wales, it is far easier for some people to leave unwanted goods at the door of Jayne’s Baby Bank.
What happened next
On 2 November 2026 both PayPal pages were still live, with the same wording: “Charity shop” and “100% of profit goes towards the charity” on one, and “We run charity shops” on the other.
In November 2025 a community interest company was set up in the Jayne’s Baby Bank name. A CIC is not a charity either. The stock did not go away. By early March 2026 a fire service prohibition notice was in force at 5 Crane Street, Pontypool, citing excessive fire loading and poor housekeeping.
