Safeguarding Evidence Review
This is an updated examination of the academic and professional qualifications publicly claimed by Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, also known publicly as Jayne Price, the founder and director of Jayne’s Baby Bank C.I.C.
It follows our earlier article, Fact-Checking Carrie-Anne Ridsdale’s Alleged ‘BA Hons Nursing’ Degree, published on 20 June 2025. Since then a great deal more archive material has become available, including documents Ms Ridsdale has published herself.
The purpose is not to repeat the earlier investigation. It is to build a dated record of what was claimed, what documents were produced, how the descriptions changed, and what remains unsupported by the material reviewed. Every quotation below is reproduced verbatim from Ms Ridsdale’s own public posts, videos and profile pages, spelling included.
Level 1 and Level 2 Health and Social Care certificates, college coursework, and a claimed start at Cardiff University.
Repeated public claims of a nursing degree, a biochemistry diploma, a PhD, midwifery and health-visitor training.
The nursing qualification is re-described three times on the Facebook profile, ending as “Former Student Nurse”.
Ms Ridsdale has publicly presented herself as having a background in nursing, midwifery, health visiting, education, social care and biochemistry. These claims have appeared repeatedly over several years and form part of the public presentation of the Baby Bank and the expertise attributed to its operator.
Why the qualification question matters
Claims of nursing, health, safeguarding and child-related training carry weight when made by somebody operating a community-facing organisation dealing with families and children. This article therefore examines those claims carefully, without treating study, training, qualification and registration as interchangeable.
Where the documents come from
The certificate, portfolio and CPD images reproduced here were published by Ms Ridsdale on her own Facebook pages. The profile wording is taken from archived captures of the page (archive.ph, 13 January, 30 January and 6 September 2026). Video quotations are from transcripts of her own Facebook Lives. Nothing here was obtained privately.
Chronology of Claims and Documents
Public Claim
Crosskeys College
In a post dated 5 January 2026, Ms Ridsdale wrote:
“1996 I went to Crosskeys college – why would I be in college in 2016 when I was at Cardiff University studying a nursing degree? Fun fact … I also went to Ystrad Mynach College too.”
The post states that she was not at college in 2016. The two documents that follow are dated March and May 2016.
Document
Health and Social Care Certificates
Three Pearson Edexcel documents dated 14 March 2016 are in the name Jayne-Anne Price: a certificate headed Competence Based Qualification (CBQ) for the Pearson Edexcel Level 1 Award in Health and Social Care (QCF), and two Certificates of Unit Credit, one Level 1 and one Level 2. Ms Ridsdale published the photograph herself on 10 September 2026, in the same “Courses & Training” album described at the end of this chronology. In March 2016 she was posting under the name Carrie Anne, and the coursework she photographed two months later carries the name Carrie-Anne Ridsdale. The name on the certificates is examined below.
The main certificate gives the qualification number 500/5487/9 and the centre as The Learning Connection (041260). Every unit on both unit-credit documents is graded P (pass).
These are Level 1 and Level 2 Health and Social Care documents. They are not a nursing degree, a nursing diploma, a biochemistry diploma or a Level 3 qualification. They are examined in detail below.
Contemporary Record
Coursework Under the Name Carrie Anne
A Facebook post under the name Carrie Anne shows a bound assignment titled “Is Man Flu an Urban Myth?” with the name Carrie-Anne Ridsdale on the cover.
“It’s official! Man flu is not an urban myth! and I have 6 distinctions to prove it! Thanks guys for being my test subjects.”
This is the only contemporaneous record of “distinctions” in the archive. It shows college-level coursework being completed in May 2016, four months before a September university intake. It is not a nursing qualification.
Retrospective Claim
Acceptance to Cardiff University
In a video of 12 September 2025, Ms Ridsdale gave her fullest account of how she entered nursing:
“And 2016, I got accepted, well, I got accepted at South Wales University who also gave me, who also offered me a learning difficulties nurse position in the interview and I also got accepted to Cardiff University to study nursing. So, I chose Cardiff, started my nursing course.”
On 14 January 2026, commenting on her own Facebook Live, she wrote:
“I did my nursing degree in 2016”
A post of 10 June 2026 repeats the year: “I was accepted to Cardiff University 2016 to study adult nursing”. These are later accounts of what is said to have happened in 2016. No offer letter, enrolment record or student ID has been produced.
CPD Evidence
British Journal of Midwifery Study Days
Ms Ridsdale has published a photograph of three CPD certificates: two from British Journal of Midwifery “Current Issues in Midwifery 2019” study days at the Village Hotel, Cardiff (Perinatal mental health, Friday 17 May 2019, and Safer Maternity Services, Friday 29 November 2019) and one from a Journal of Health Visiting 2019 study day. Both midwifery certificates carry the same reference number, A009996. The name area is whited out in her photograph.
The published 2019 programme describes these as free study days with open registration, limited to 150 places per venue.
CPD is not the same thing as a degree.
A CPD certificate records attendance at a professional development event. Ms Ridsdale said as much herself on 7 February 2026 while reacting to this site: “So yeah that’s not my nursing degree. That’s additional CPD courses.”
First Training Claims
“I Am Trained in Midwifery, Nursing Adults … and Health Visiting”
The earliest statement about nursing in the archive, in a post setting out the organisation’s credentials:
“Childcare qualifications and I have received a great deal of training via the NMC and the local health and education boards in South East Wales. (Both know and support and folow us). I am trained in midwifery, nursing adults, elderly, chronically ill, and children’s nursing and health visiting. I am trained in children, behaviour and autism and learning difficulties education and care and nursing.”
“I also worked in sales, marketing and profit protection of major companies that trade world wide for 20 years. Until I became serious ill in 2012.”
The Nursing and Midwifery Council is a regulator. It maintains the register and sets standards; it does not deliver training to individuals. No degree, diploma or student status is mentioned in this post.

“somebody who has worked in the health profession for, well, a long time, because I was a classroom assistant for a long time, and obviously with my nursing training and having a degree as well, then I am specifying that you need this and I will not take you on.”
This is the first statement in the archive that a degree is held.
Qualification Claim
Degree, Diploma and PhD
“I went to Uni at 39 and got my degree and diploma in nursing and bio chem! and now I’m doing a PHD and running a charity. I was accepted to every Uni I applied to with unconditiona offers.”
In this post the nursing degree and the biochemistry diploma are presented as already obtained, a PhD is described as in progress, and the age at entry is given as 39.
Student Account
“Studying to Be a Nurse”
“I needed 10 food banks to help my family while I was waiting on the tumor diagnosis. I was left in limbo. I was working two jobs and studying to be a nurse and then next thing I knew I’d collapsed on a ward on placement.”
Nine days after “got my degree”, the same period is described as “studying to be a nurse”.
Student Account
“As a Student on a Chemo/Haematology Ward”
“I spent time as a student on a chemo/haematology ward nursing cancer patients who had previously been smokers”
Age at Entry
“I Went to University at 36”
Sharing a health board recruitment post, Ms Ridsdale wrote:
“For all aspiring nurses – never to late – I went to University at 36”
Seven months earlier the age given was 39. Thirty-six is consistent with a September 2016 start for someone born in May 1980; thirty-nine is not.
Qualification Claim

“I got a diploma in biochem. I did it before my nursing.”
The sequence given is biochemistry first, nursing afterwards.

Nursing is described here as “studied”, alongside separate qualifications in retail, health and social care, and education.
Training and Illness Account
“Coming to the End of My Training”
“I was on, I can’t remember if it was placement five, six, it was coming to the end anyway, coming to the end of my training. And I hadn’t learned enough to know what was wrong with me on that cancer ward.”
“I’d already done a literature review. That’s what you do before your dissertation.”
This is the first account to place the illness on a placement ward and to number the placements. Earlier references to nursing training in the archive go back to July 2022 and are set out above.

Midwifery Hours and Health Visitors
“I do as part of my nursing training at Cardiff University and mandatory midwifery hours and labour ward and theatre hours. I also did mandatory training with the Health Visitors in Brynmawr.”
A placement, if it took place, demonstrates a period of training. It does not establish completion of a degree.

“I studied nursing, which included midwifery and health visitor training.”
“I was also empolyed by social services to work and care with thousands of individuals with mental health and disabilities with complex care needs. All these qualifications are certified.”

Nursing, Cardiff Prison and Biochemistry
“I have studied nursing with elements of midwifery, children’s nursing and social care. I’ve even spent a week in the bird cadge(if you know you know!) in Cardiff prison studying nursing! In my nursing interview I was given unconditional offers to every University I applied for and was offered Learnig Difficulties nurse position during the interviews. I also have a diploma in bio chemistry…”
Registration Argument
“You Don’t Have to Be Registered With the NMC to Be a Nurse”
“I am a qualified healthcare professional in several different ways, okay?”
“You don’t have to be registered with the NMC to be a nurse, okay? You have to be registered with the NMC to practice as a nurse in the UK. That’s two different things.”
Neither Carrie-Anne Ridsdale nor Jayne Price appears on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register (see our May 2025 check). The statement is that registration is unnecessary, not that registration is held.
Biochemistry Diploma
“Diploma, I Got. It Says on There.”
“I did a diploma in biochem to get in, which was really, really good because it took the A&P out of the studying. So you didn’t need to study the anatomy and physiology part of it because at degree level, because you already knew it.”
“I never said I had a PhD in biochem. … Diploma, I got. It says on there.”
The denial refers to a PhD in biochemistry. The 18 July 2023 post stated “now I’m doing a PHD”; no subject, institution or supervisor has been given for that PhD in any statement since.
Training Claim
Cardiff Prison
In response to our June 2025 article, Ms Ridsdale posted an undated photograph with the caption:
“Debunking another of Sherlocks false claims. … Is that a student nurse uniform I see? Waiting outside Cardiff Prison to do a week in the ‘bird cadge’ administering medication and treatments to prisoners as part of my training. One thing I am not is a liar.”
The prison week is mentioned five times between October 2024 and January 2026, consistently as a student placement. No placement record has been produced.

“I was paid to study nursing as well. I had a bursary, a good bursary … And I got into nursing, guaranteed positions, you know, and I was offered learning difficulties nurse training after, which I think was a good thing for over 18 months. … And then obviously my illness had got worse and worse. I’d actually done placement on a hematology award”
“And then the pandemic hit and they wouldn’t let me go into the wards because I was seriously ill.”
Biochemistry Re-described
“It’s an Access to Biochem”
Reading this website aloud on camera, Ms Ridsdale said:
“Well, I got a PhD in biochem. No, I did a diploma in biochem and passed with distinction. There is no such qualification here at Cardiff. Okay, I didn’t study here at Cardiff. And I never said I did.”
“It’s an access to biochem. … That’s what got me in. That’s what got me into university.”
“I still had to do the exam, you fool. … I think I had 97 in my ANP.”
“I actually put the unconditional offers on Facebook.”
“I’ve already had a meeting with Trading Standards and proved this.”
Three things change here. The biochemistry qualification becomes an Access course, not a Cardiff qualification. The June claim that it “took the A&P out” becomes “I still had to do the exam”. And the unconditional offers are said to have been posted on Facebook; none appear in the archive of more than 2,000 videos and posts.

“I was too ill. They wouldn’t even let me go in the wards. And they were desperate for the nursing staff. They actually changed the old syllabus … What they did was put all the placements towards the end of the year. … I knew I could have been useful out there caring in the pandemic. No health board, department or role has been named. Every role on the September 2026 profile is prefixed “Former” except “Founder and Director”.
Status Before the Pandemic

“Prior to the pandemic, I was a student nurse, and I got ill, and I wasn’t able to work on the wards because I was considered high risk. I felt very guilty that my colleagues were out there working hard.”

New Album
“Courses & Training”
Two days before publication of this article, the Jaynesbabybank Registered – cic page added a Facebook album titled “Courses & Training”. It also contains the photograph of the three Pearson Edexcel certificates examined above, and eleven photographs captioned “British Journal of Midwifery Training Day CPD (Best buffet)”: buffet food, juice and fruit, study-day paperwork dated 2018, attendees seated in a lecture room and around a seminar table, a group beside a birthing pool, and a demonstration on a training mannequin. A twelfth photograph, captioned “Cardiff Uni – Maternity First Aid”, shows an empty lecture theatre with a “Maternity First Aid” slide on screen and a “Cardiff Uni” caption overlaid. Faces of other attendees have been obscured in the reproductions below.
The 2018 paperwork indicates attendance at a British Journal of Midwifery study day in 2018 as well as the two 2019 days for which certificates were published. Study days and a maternity first aid session are attendance events. Apart from the 2016 Level 1 and Level 2 certificates, the album contains no degree certificate, transcript, diploma, enrolment record or award of any kind in nursing, midwifery or biochemistry.
The Age Problem
Ms Ridsdale has given two different ages for starting university, and only one of them fits the 2016 start date she has repeatedly stated.

Public record
Companies House
The officer record for Jayne’s Baby Bank C.I.C. (company 16838920, incorporated 7 November 2025) lists director Jayne Price with a date of birth of May 1980.
That matches “I’m 46” in February 2026 and starting college at 16 in 1996.
Thirty-six fits 2016. Thirty-nine does not.
Born May 1980, Ms Ridsdale was 36 in September 2016 and turned 39 in May 2019. “I went to University at 36” (February 2024) matches a 2016 start. “I went to Uni at 39” (July 2023) does not, and cannot be reconciled with “I started my nursing course in 2016”. A 2019 start would be consistent with being “a student nurse prior to the pandemic” and with the 2019 CPD study days. A 2016 start would not: a three-year Bachelor of Nursing beginning in September 2016 ends in summer 2019, before the pandemic.
The Pearson Edexcel Certificates: A Closer Examination
The March 2016 documents are the only formal qualification certificates Ms Ridsdale has published. Their authenticity cannot be confirmed from the photograph, and one feature of them needs to be stated before the detail: the name.

What the register says for 500/5487/9
Title: Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award in Health and Social Care
Level 1. Total credits: 7. Guided learning hours: 60.
Operational 1 October 2008 to 31 August 2021. Final certification 31 August 2022. Status: no longer awarded.
The qualification number identifies a genuine, now-withdrawn Pearson qualification, which gives Pearson a specific record to check. Three points arise from comparing the certificate with the register.
1. The credit total
The Level 1 Certificate of Unit Credit lists nine units:
That is 23 credits, stated on the document to have been “completed as part of” the Level 1 Award. The register lists the Award at 7 credits. Under the Qualifications and Credit Framework an Award was 1 to 12 credits and a Certificate 13 to 36. A learner can take more units than the minimum, so the figure alone does not show anything is wrong. Whether 23 Level 1 credits were certificated under qualification 500/5487/9 at centre 041260 in March 2016 is a matter Pearson can confirm from its records.
2. The title and the template
The register title is “Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award”. The certificate prints “Pearson Edexcel Level 1 Award”, on a template headed Competence Based Qualification, which Pearson uses for competence-based (NVQ-type) awards rather than BTEC awards. There may be an ordinary explanation in how Pearson printed legacy QCF certificates in 2016. Pearson has not been asked to confirm this.
3. The Level 2 document
The third document lists seven Level 2 units, HSC10 to HSC16, each of 3 credits (21 credits), all graded P, “completed as part of the Pearson Edexcel Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care (QCF)”. No qualification number is printed on it, and no separate Level 2 award certificate has been published.
Documentary distinction
A Certificate of Unit Credit records units represented as achieved. It is not the same document as a certificate showing that the overall qualification was conferred. For Level 1 both documents exist. For Level 2 only the unit record has been produced.
The name on the certificates
All three documents are in the name Jayne-Anne Price, with a date of achievement of 14 March 2016.

Her personal Facebook profile posted as “Carrie Anne” from February 2013 to January 2019.
The coursework photographed on 11 May 2016, eight weeks after the certificate date, has “Carrie-Anne Ridsdale” printed on the cover.
The name “Jayne” first appears in the archive with the “Jayne’s Mother & Baby Bank” page in September 2020.
Name on the documents

A hyphenated form matching “Carrie-Anne”, with the surname of the later alias.
On 12 June 2025, asked on camera whether her name was Carrie, Ms Ridsdale replied: “No it’s not, it’s Jayne.”
The certificates were published on 10 September 2026, fifteen months after this site had identified her as Carrie-Anne Ridsdale.
Awarding bodies certificate learners in the name registered by the centre at the time of enrolment. A certificate dated March 2016 in a name that does not appear anywhere in the public record until 2020 is therefore either evidence of a formal name change before 2016, evidence of the centre registering her under a different name, or evidence that the name on the document is not the name that was printed on it. Only Pearson, from the original certificate number, can say which. That number is the one part of the document that has been obscured.
Opinion, stated as such.
It is this site’s opinion, from the sequence of names above and the timing of publication, that the name field on these documents has been altered, and that image-editing tools capable of doing so cleanly are now freely available. That is an inference, not a finding. It would be settled in either direction by Pearson confirming what was issued under that certificate number, or by production of the originals.
Every unit is graded “P”
Sixteen units across both documents are graded P for pass. Ms Ridsdale has said she “passed with distinctions” (17 June 2025) and “passed with distinction” (28 September 2025). Those statements were about the biochemistry diploma, not these documents, but they are the only distinctions ever mentioned, and the only distinctions in the archive are the “6 distinctions” on the May 2016 coursework post.
Level 3?
Ms Ridsdale has also described “Advanced level 3 Health and Social Care” (January 2025), “a GMVQ level three in health and social care” (5 September 2025), and her profile lists “CACHE Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Child Care and Education” under Works at. No Level 3 document of any kind has been published. The only Health and Social Care documents produced are Level 1 and Level 2.
On the photograph itself
The published image is a photograph, not a scan, and the certificate number on the main document has been blurred. A photograph cannot be authenticated, and a name field is the easiest part of a document to alter without leaving marks visible at this resolution. Verification needs the originals, or Pearson’s own record of what was issued to whom under the certificate number, centre 041260 and qualification 500/5487/9.

Read in sequence, the description moves from a diploma obtained “at Uni” alongside the degree, to a pre-entry course taken elsewhere, to an Access course. An Access to Higher Education Diploma is a Level 3 college qualification designed for mature applicants. It is a recognised route into nursing. It is not a university diploma in biochemistry, and it would not exempt a student from any part of an NMC-approved programme, which is what the June 2025 statement described and the September 2025 statement withdrew.
The unanswered question is specific.
Where is the diploma, and who awarded it? A college name and a year would settle the matter in minutes.
The PhD

The 2023 post did claim a PhD in progress. The 2025 denial addresses a PhD in biochemistry specifically. No institution, subject, supervisor or registration for any doctoral study has ever been named, and the claim has not been repeated since 2023.

The earlier article set out why unconditional offers for pre-registration nursing are unusual and why a university admissions interview is not an employment process. Ms Ridsdale said on 28 September 2025 that she “actually put the unconditional offers on Facebook”. They do not appear in the archive. No offer letter has been produced.

No degree certificate, transcript, or graduation record has appeared in any material reviewed.
Cardiff University’s nursing degree is the Bachelor of Nursing (Hons), abbreviated BN (Hons). That is the title on the portfolio Ms Ridsdale photographed. It is not a title she has ever used for herself. The earlier article found no BA (Hons) Nursing in the university’s catalogue.
The portfolio is student material.
A Student Portfolio is issued to enrolled students to record placements and competencies. Photographing its cover is consistent with having been a student. It says nothing about whether the programme was completed.

The January change followed our reporting that Cardiff offers no BA (Hons) Nursing. The September wording is the first time the profile has described a former student rather than a graduate. It also introduces “Bsc nursing at NHS”, which is not a qualification any NHS body awards.
The profile is not the qualification. It is evidence of how the qualification has been described at different points in time, and of the direction in which the description has moved.
Student Nurse or Graduate?
Across roughly ninety dated statements about nursing in the archive, running from July 2022 to September 2026, Ms Ridsdale describes being accepted, being paid a bursary, attending lectures, sitting an anatomy and physiology exam, doing placements in haematology, orthopaedics, maternity, the incontinence service, health visiting and Cardiff Prison, falling ill, and being kept off the wards when the pandemic began. She then describes starting the Baby Bank.
What she does not describe, in any of those statements, is graduating, receiving an award, registering with the NMC, or working as a nurse. The exceptions are two statements in 2023: “my nursing training and having a degree as well” (2 April 2023) and “got my degree and diploma in nursing and bio chem” (18 July 2023). Nine days after the second, she described the same period as “studying to be a nurse”. By September 2026 her own profile says “Former Student Nurse”.

Conclusion
The academic history Ms Ridsdale presents has been built up over several years through many different descriptions, and it has changed under scrutiny. A BA became a BSc. A degree obtained became a course studied. A diploma at university became an Access course elsewhere. A PhD in progress disappeared. An exemption from anatomy and physiology became an exam sat and passed.
There is material consistent with having been a student or an attendee: a portfolio cover, CPD attendance, a coursework post, photographs in scrubs, and, as of 10 September 2026, an album of study-day and lecture-theatre photographs. There is no material consistent with having qualified.
The March 2016 Pearson documents cite a real, withdrawn qualification, but they cannot be taken as genuine. They carry a name she did not use until four years after the date printed on them, they record 23 credits against a 7-credit award, and they appear on a template and under a title that differ from the register. Those are questions for Pearson, and the certificate number needed to ask them has been obscured.
The central issue is no longer whether qualifications have been claimed.
It is whether any of them can be demonstrated from a primary record: a degree certificate, a diploma, an offer letter, an employer, or an awarding body’s confirmation.
Everything that would settle the question is in Ms Ridsdale’s possession if it exists. Nothing that would settle it has been produced.
Corrections supported by verifiable evidence will be reviewed and published.
