With public recognition comes public scrutiny, and one of the unfortunate consequences of being the target of someone’s anger is facing allegations that can ruin lives—or even end them. Before the recent expansion of Jayne’s Baby Bank, Jayne Price, also known as Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, operated what she called a Baby Bank, Food Bank, and Fundraising Charity Shop, primarily based in Aberbargoed. During this time, a heated public feud erupted when a man was falsely labeled a paedophile after revealing that the so-called charity shop was not actually a registered charity. The dispute played out on Facebook, with Jayne’s Baby Bank (JBB) launching accusations—referring to the man as a paedophile and even likening him to Savile—while Ian Smith defended himself.
2022 – The first public allegation made against Mr. Smith.
Through social media investigations, we gathered a collection of images and exchanges between both parties during their feud. Additionally, contrary to claims that anyone can walk into a police station and obtain a report, Sarah’s Law has strict eligibility criteria. Only parents, legal guardians, or individuals who can prove they are responsible for a child’s welfare can apply for information under the scheme. The police conduct thorough checks before disclosing any details, ensuring that sensitive data is protected and preventing misuse by those without a genuine concern for a child’s safety.
Before diving deeper into the social media tactics used by “Jayne,” Ian publicly shared his DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) to refute the allegations. The content is attached below.

What is notable here is that during the period of turmoil between the two, “Jayne’s Baby Bank” contacted several scrap collectors to remove cars from the Bowen Industrial Estate in Aberbargoed [source], as she was experiencing issues with several other businesses. Unbeknownst to the scrap collectors, “Jayne” had no legal right to do this, as the vehicles never belonged to her. We also note her reference to Sarah’s Law in this post, as well as Claire’s Law, which relates to the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme. Claire’s Law allows individuals to request information about a partner’s history of abusive behavior to help prevent further domestic violence. We can only assume the implication behind this.

What is particularly concerning is that The Baby Bank claims she was informed by the police that he is not permitted at the bottom end of the Bowen Industrial Estate (where the ‘Charity Shop’ is located) due to the presence of children at her establishment. This claim is completely false, as the DBS check provided clearly shows he has no convictions related to children whatsoever. The DBS barred list also shows “NONE RECORDED,” further exposing her allegations as not only baseless but also harmful. Ian posted a video of the incident on YouTube.
She also publicly posted, “Ian Smith is not allowed around children unsupervised,” while taking a snippet of his publicly disclosed DBS check out of context, in an attempt to further frame him as a paedophile. This action has caused additional emotional distress for Mr. Smith.

Our investigation also yielded some interesting findings, including her use of an old Facebook account under the name “Carrie Anne” to contact third parties, falsely claiming that Mr. Smith is a convicted paedophile. We can confirm that this is indeed her account, as she used the same image in a TikTok video dated July 22, 2020. [source]
At the height of the Facebook drama, Carrie-Anne (Jayne) shared an article titled “Convicted Paedophile Caged for 21 Years for Sex Attacks, Including the Rape of a Boy” suggesting that the convicted individual mentioned in the article was Ian Smith. However, the article actually refers to a 60-year-old man from Durham, not someone from South Wales.
“Jayne’s Baby Bank” continues to make use of the Savile reference. [source]
As our findings have shown, her approach to social drama began early in the inception of the “Baby Bank.” As previously stated by Carrie-Anne:
And other charities, and other little groups, you are the ones that we’re gonna take down. Because I don’t answer to nobody. I don’t answer to the charity commission. I don’t answer to the council. I don’t answer to the police. I don’t answer to nobody, and they know that. And I will take you down if you bother me or you bother anybody else. [source]
We hope this provides further insight into the character of the individual behind Jayne’s Baby Bank across South Wales.
