Updated, October 2026. This article, first published in March 2025, showed how Jayne’s Baby Bank called a man with no convictions a paedophile. Since then the pattern has continued, and the contrast has sharpened: a man jailed in 2013 for child sex offences was helping at her Pontypool premises, while her pages went on accusing people with no record at all. Read the update.
With public recognition comes public scrutiny, and one of the unfortunate consequences of being the target of someone’s anger is facing allegations that can ruin lives—or even end them. Before the recent expansion of Jayne’s Baby Bank, Jayne Price, also known as Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, operated what she called a Baby Bank, Food Bank, and Fundraising Charity Shop, primarily based in Aberbargoed. During this time, a heated public feud erupted when a man was falsely labeled a paedophile after revealing that the so-called charity shop was not actually a registered charity. The dispute played out on Facebook, with Jayne’s Baby Bank (JBB) launching accusations—referring to the man as a paedophile and even likening him to Savile—while Ian Smith defended himself.
2022 – The first public allegation made against Mr. Smith.
Through social media investigations, we gathered a collection of images and exchanges between both parties during their feud. Additionally, contrary to claims that anyone can walk into a police station and obtain a report, Sarah’s Law has strict eligibility criteria. Only parents, legal guardians, or individuals who can prove they are responsible for a child’s welfare can apply for information under the scheme. The police conduct thorough checks before disclosing any details, ensuring that sensitive data is protected and preventing misuse by those without a genuine concern for a child’s safety.
Before diving deeper into the social media tactics used by “Jayne,” Ian publicly shared his DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) to refute the allegations. The content is attached below.

What is notable here is that during the period of turmoil between the two, “Jayne’s Baby Bank” contacted several scrap collectors to remove cars from the Bowen Industrial Estate in Aberbargoed [source], as she was experiencing issues with several other businesses. Unbeknownst to the scrap collectors, “Jayne” had no legal right to do this, as the vehicles never belonged to her. We also note her reference to Sarah’s Law in this post, as well as Claire’s Law, which relates to the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme. Claire’s Law allows individuals to request information about a partner’s history of abusive behavior to help prevent further domestic violence. We can only assume the implication behind this.

What is particularly concerning is that The Baby Bank claims she was informed by the police that he is not permitted at the bottom end of the Bowen Industrial Estate (where the ‘Charity Shop’ is located) due to the presence of children at her establishment. This claim is completely false, as the DBS check provided clearly shows he has no convictions related to children whatsoever. The DBS barred list also shows “NONE RECORDED,” further exposing her allegations as not only baseless but also harmful. Ian posted a video of the incident on YouTube.
She also publicly posted, “Ian Smith is not allowed around children unsupervised,” while taking a snippet of his publicly disclosed DBS check out of context, in an attempt to further frame him as a paedophile. This action has caused additional emotional distress for Mr. Smith.

Our investigation also yielded some interesting findings, including her use of an old Facebook account under the name “Carrie Anne” to contact third parties, falsely claiming that Mr. Smith is a convicted paedophile. We can confirm that this is indeed her account, as she used the same image in a TikTok video dated July 22, 2020. [source]
At the height of the Facebook drama, Carrie-Anne (Jayne) shared an article titled “Convicted Paedophile Caged for 21 Years for Sex Attacks, Including the Rape of a Boy” suggesting that the convicted individual mentioned in the article was Ian Smith. However, the article actually refers to a 60-year-old man from Durham, not someone from South Wales.
“Jayne’s Baby Bank” continues to make use of the Savile reference. [source]
As our findings have shown, her approach to social drama began early in the inception of the “Baby Bank.” As previously stated by Carrie-Anne:
And other charities, and other little groups, you are the ones that we’re gonna take down. Because I don’t answer to nobody. I don’t answer to the charity commission. I don’t answer to the council. I don’t answer to the police. I don’t answer to nobody, and they know that. And I will take you down if you bother me or you bother anybody else. [source]
We hope this provides further insight into the character of the individual behind Jayne’s Baby Bank across South Wales.
Update, October 2026: the accusations, and the man she let in
In 2022 Ian Smith had a clean DBS check, with the barred list showing “NONE RECORDED”. Jayne’s Baby Bank called him a paedophile, likened him to Savile, and wrote that he was “not allowed around children unsupervised”.
Four years later, the man with the record was somewhere else entirely: inside her shop.
Raymond Derek Watkins
In March 2013 Raymond Derek Watkins was jailed for 15 months at Cardiff Crown Court. He had admitted six offences of accessing indecent images of children of the most serious category, and a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl. The judge banned him from working with children and ruled that he “would never be allowed to be alone with any child under 16” (WalesOnline, 30 March 2013). We do not know whether that order is still in force.
This is how she has described him, in her own words:
- 2 July 2025, introducing him on video as “Patrick”: “He’s not a volunteer, but he’s helped us load and he’s also helped customers to the car with the stuff that they bought from us as well, okay?”
- 8 August 2026, video: “somebody else now who’s volunteering for us. Look, look, all my volunteers have enhanced DBS checks.”
- 9 August 2026, video: “I don’t understand why you’re calling my security guard, right?”
- 19 August 2026: “No one is employed or volunteers with us who hasn’t had an enhanced DBS check.”
- 15 September 2026: “There is no one living in the baby bank. Sometimes we work really late.”
Our reporting, including CCTV footage we hold and have not published, is that he was living in the building. She denies it. Our 13 September 2026 report sets it out.
What has happened since:
- 15 September 2026. The landlord took 6 Commercial Street back. On his account, he found Watkins inside, offered him £40 to leave, and he took it (our report).
- 1 October 2026. She posted on the Jayne’s Baby Bank page a private chat in which Watkins had forwarded her a message overnight. Two weeks after he left the building, they were still in contact (our report).
- 6 October 2026. Police were called to 6 Commercial Street, and told her and her son to leave or face arrest. After they had gone, Watkins was seen going back into the shop. We understand he is still there. The landlord took the shop back on 15 September, and nothing in his account to us suggests anyone has his permission to be inside (our report).
We do not say that he has had contact with any child at the premises, and nothing here suggests that anyone has been charged with any offence.
Two men, side by side
| Compared | Ian Smith | Raymond Derek Watkins |
|---|---|---|
| The record | No convictions. DBS barred list: “NONE RECORDED”. | Jailed in 2013 for child sex offences; banned from working with children (court reporting). |
| What she called him | A paedophile; likened to Savile; “not allowed around children unsupervised”. | “volunteering for us”; “my security guard”. |
| Where she said he could be | Not near her shop: she claimed the police had said so, because of the children there. | Helping at her Pontypool premises; by our reporting, living in the building; back inside on 6 October 2026. |
The fabrications did not stop
In September 2026 the method in this article came back, on a bigger scale. Within hours of our report on Watkins, the Jayne’s Baby Bank page published a Messenger screenshot, said to come from a misspelled “Dank Drangon” page, describing five local people as “known paedofiles and sex offenders” and “a child trafficking ring”. The real Dank Dragon team disowned it on a live broadcast. AI-generated posters followed, on Facebook, TikTok and a group the page runs, until eight people had been named. On 20 September a page called “South Wales Peadofiles Hunters” republished the posters. No evidence has been produced against any of the eight, and the matter is with the police (our report).
The accusations went to people with no record. The man with a record was let in.
If you are worried about a child’s safety, call Gwent Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency. The full record, with every source, is in the Sherlock Dossier, Findings 28 and 29.
Carrie-Anne Ridsdale, also known publicly as Jayne Price, has a standing right of reply, and it is open now. If anything here is wrong, send us the document that shows it through our contact page, and we will correct it on the record. Any response is published in full and unedited, and the offer does not expire.
