How Our Baby Food Bank Works

Hi everyone,

We own four shops to help mothers in Wales, the UK, and Africa. Donations help to fund the support we provide on a massive scale.

  • Children’s clothes start at 50p.
  • Adult clothes start at £2.
  • Free tea and coffee.
  • Bric-a-brac from 20p.
  • Books are individually priced.
  • Charity Boutique section ranges from £5 to £100.

Mothers with children under 18 years can choose from:

  • Nappies: Free to mothers who are customers and donors. Strictly one pack per household per week from one shop.
  • Free sanitary items and toiletries.
  • Free full food bank referral (mothers can ask for nappies, pet food, baby milk too – if the main depot has them, they will provide these plus three days’ worth of food per person in the household).
  • Free top-up shop to help mothers with children under 18 get through the week. Mothers can choose 4-5 food items per week.
  • Free pet food bank provided by the Pet Food Bank.

If a mother with children under 18 years needs further help, we ask them to put it in writing (for our audit), and the trustees of our charity will decide if that request can be met by the baby bank.

We provide all new mothers in Wales with a 0-12 months essential clothes bundle for free, and a premature box for free, which we deliver to the neonatal ward.

100% of proceeds go back into the running costs of the baby bank and helping families, primarily in Wales and the UK. We all work voluntarily; none of us take a wage. We also help families in Africa by shipping directly and families in Ukraine via a third party.

If you are not a customer or donor, please contact Citizens Advice and ask them to provide you with a food bank.
