There are many people questioning the charity status of Jayne’s Baby Bank, and I can offer you a solution to answer that by clicking here.

AWOL

As you can see from the register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk website, the legal charity status of Jayne’s Baby Bank is missing. To make sure there are no oversights in terms of name and spelling, I’ve limited the search to ‘Baby Bank’ in Wales and the Caerphilly region. You can find the results by clicking here or checking the image below.

Due to this, we are unable to determine how the funding has been distributed to the local community. In terms of being a Community Interest Company ‘No results found for “jayne’s”‘.

In a notable development, Jayne’s Baby Bank (JBB) has allegedly been granted exemption status by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), exempting it from registering as a charity. In the attached video, JBB showcases a letter from the FCA, stating:

‘Confirming our non-objection to the Sensitive Business Name you proposed.’

This is not an outright confirmation of exemption. Rather, it indicates that Jayne initially proposed a name considered sensitive and sought confirmation from the FCA about potential issues in using it. The FCA’s response does not confer any exemption status, contrary to what is suggested in her TikTok video and Facebook post. You can view a real-time list of sensitive words on the FCA’s website, none of which are associated with an exemption for charities.

Neighbourly.com, a website dedicated to aiding locals in supporting causes, features a listing for ‘Jayne’s Baby Bank & FREE FOODBANK‘ at the address: 7 Meadow Road, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, NP12 2AG, UK. Our investigation has yielded notable findings, including the property’s ‘council house’ status and the incarceration of previous occupants(We will not disclose these details due to the uncertain nature of their connection and the heinous nature of the crimes committed).

Returning to our initial point, Miss Ridsdale seems to be confused, as indicated in her Facebook post where she fails to grasp that the issue lies not in her operational status as a “Baby Bank Charity” but in claiming to be a charity altogether. Her main contention is that they operate as separate entities, yet they are essentially one and the same.

To simplify, only registered charities are allowed to establish charity shops. You must register as a charity with the Charity Commission before legally operating a shop. Currently, every charity shop in operation is illegal. In a video dated February 13, 2024, Carrie-Anne Ridsdale claims that people only want her charity number to report her.

We are uncertain about the motives behind such deception, but we can all make educated guesses.
