On September 9th, 2024, Jayne’s Baby Bank announced that they are “currently registering with the Fundraising Regulatory.” This statement caught our attention. Using our prior contacts within the Fundraising Regulator team, we were able to confirm the actual status of the Baby Bank, clarifying the facts rather than leaving room for the uncertainties that often surround such ventures.

We can confirm that the organisation is not currently registered with us.

The following is required for a non-charity organisation (i.e. not registered with the Charity Commission) to register with the Fundraising Regulator:

  • Be registered with Companies House;
  • Have operated in the UK fundraising environment for at least 12 months, before we consider registration;
  • Be able to provide us with a set of internal accounts at the point of application;
  • Have an established and published complaints policy on your website. The following guidance note may be useful;
  • Commit to abide by The Code of Fundraising Practice and our T&C;
  • Be able to demonstrate compliance with the standards in the Code;
  • Be able to explain why the company has not registered as a charity;
  • Be able to outline the charitable aspect and purpose of your fundraising at the point of application.

You can also find more information on our registration pages.

The Baby Bank is unable to meet these requirements, so no application can be approved, failing at the very first step.

Regards,
Sherlock.
