Carrie-Anne Seen Placing Street Banners in Caerphilly Town Centre

The signs

Despite Caerphilly County Borough Council’s efforts to have the charity branding removed, people around Caerphilly town centre will have noticed, over the course of the week, banners, pallets and even toys left on street corners, promoting a “new charity shop” or a “second hand shop”.

Members of our group and of the public photographed Carrie Anne Ridsdale, also known as Jayne Anne Carrie Anne Ridsdale Price, placing a sign on a street corner. It follows an earlier incident in which a headboard was left at the end of Pentrebane Street advertising what was presented as a charity shop; she later claimed it had been stolen and put there by “Sherlock”. The business is not a registered charity shop, which raises compliance concerns.

Pontypool

Separately, eviction notices had been served at the Pontypool premises. The site was being monitored by fire marshals because of a leak left unrepaired for more than a year, a clear safety hazard to neighbouring businesses and the public (see Forced Closure Issued). Her own video from that week:

All four of her shop fronts, including both in Pontypool, were taken back by their landlords between May and September 2026 (the Sherlock Dossier).

“Hannah”, and the arrest rumours

That month posts on the Jayne’s Baby Bank page appeared under another name. One on 9 March ended: “Thanks Hannah and Dan Volunteers. (Jayne is still unwell atm).” (archive). It looked like the use of an alias, “Hannah”, on her own page.

There were also reports that she had been arrested. She denied them:

I am aware that the haters are stating I have been arrested. More like they have been. I have not been arrested and I am not on bail ect.

“We are not a charity shop”

The outlook for Jayne’s Baby Bank looked increasingly uncertain, particularly as the shops were closing to the public and moving to paid, pre-booked entry. On 21 March she wrote that “you have to pre pay and pre book a slot to come into one of the shops. So you will have to pre pay £3 – 5” (archive), and then:

We are not a charity shop. cost £3 entry – but you will get this refunded off your shop.

That claim is undermined by what happened the next day. On 22 March she ran “an impromptu car boot today in Newport” (her video), selling items beside a charity-branded collection bucket:

What next

It is no longer a question of whether it will come to an end, but when. In the meantime, more public appeals and fundraising are expected.
