In recent days, the controversial self-described baby bank known as Jayne’s Baby Bank—fronted by Carrie-Anne Ridsdale (alias Jayne Price)—has come under renewed scrutiny. According to verified reports, police are now involved following allegations of online abuse directed toward a disabled mother and her child.

During questioning, Ridsdale reportedly told police she did not have a Facebook account. However, authorities later reviewed a livestream video posted to Facebook—where Ridsdale herself referenced the police visit in a follow-up broadcast, apparently contradicting her earlier statement. The matter remains under police investigation.

Dangerous Misinformation About Social Services

More concerning than the abusive conduct are the persistent efforts to erode trust in official safeguarding bodies. In multiple livestreams and public posts, Ridsdale has openly discouraged vulnerable mothers from engaging with social services—while promoting her own unregulated “baby bank” as an alternative.

She has also claimed, without substantiation, that she is authorised to make referrals to social services. We contacted Caerphilly Social Services directly, and officials confirmed she is not a recognised referral point and holds no formal authority to act on their behalf—despite public statements suggesting otherwise.

On June 1st, 2025, the following statement was published via the Facebook page linked to Jayne’s Baby Bank:

Can we remind donators that we are a self referal baby bank and baby and child foodbank. There are many other baby banks but Mothers need a referal from a health practitioner to access and run the risk of being reported to social service. Many of our Mothers have reported to us that after they ask for a referal from a health practioner social services come knocking at their doors asking to check their cupboards for food ect. This puts our Mothers off asking for help. I AM A QUALIFIED HEALTH PRACTIONER, I can make the decision if Mothers need help. I trust my Volunteer Managers to help Mothers. We work on a self referal good will basis. When I was training to be a nurse at Cardiff University I went out on placement with the health visitors…

In a livestream aired on June 3rd, 2025 [archived copy], Ridsdale reinforced the narrative further:

We need children’s and baby clothes. Like I said, there are other baby banks out there, but they go through a healthcare professional.
I’m a qualified healthcare professional in several ways, okay?
If you go through a professional, you’ll probably get referred to social services just for asking for help.
And our mothers don’t want that. Last thing they want is the Gestapo turning up on their doorstep, threatening to take their kids, going through their kitchen cupboards, and counting their nappies.
You’re welcome to donate to other baby banks—but we are self-referral.

Contrary to these statements, Carrie-Anne Ridsdale is not a registered nurse or midwife in the UK. A search of both the NMC database and SCWOnline yields no results. Despite repeated claims, no proof of qualification or registration has ever been provided publicly.

On 18 July 2023, Ridsdale claimed the following:

School reports due out. Don’t worry—GCSEs—don’t worry.
I went to Uni at 39 and got my degree and diploma in nursing and biochem! 🧬🧫🧪💊🩺💉 And now I’m doing a PhD and running a charity.
I was accepted to every uni I applied to with unconditional offers.

However, to earn a Biochemistry degree in the UK, a student would typically need A-levels in Chemistry and Biology and complete several years of coursework at an accredited university. There is no public record of her academic or professional achievements in this field, nor of any PhD candidacy.

More questionable claims [source]

By discouraging engagement with social services and presenting herself as a qualified authority figure, Ridsdale creates a harmful illusion of expertise—one that may leave at-risk mothers without access to trained professionals and regulated support channels.

Update: 06/06/2025
In a livestream (archived here) broadcast on June 6, 2025, Ridsdale appears to respond indirectly to the growing scrutiny. Yet again, no documentary evidence was provided to verify her medical credentials or employment history.

Instead, she repeated assertions that referrals to social services are harmful, reinforcing fears of state intervention. She reasserts that Jayne’s Baby Bank is a self-referral operation, unaffiliated with professional bodies and governed only by internal discretion.

She also accused other baby banks of launching in response to cuts in homelessness funding—suggesting they were created to exploit vulnerable families for financial gain. Meanwhile, she characterized her own efforts as uniquely honest and altruistic.

Looking for 4 dedicated, reliable driven individuals to manage our 2 shops, engage and organise with families and volunteers. I was a retail manager and profit protection adviser for 20 plus years, training provided. Source.

I worked as a profit protection officer (which is second to CEO—I told the company how to make profits and where they were losing them), for one of the largest companies in the world for 25 years plus I work in the social and health care systems. I know exactly what I am doing. Source.

Further Update:

Using our newly deployed Facebook video transcript search tool, we identified a telling statement made on December 29th, 2022. Ridsdale publicly claimed:

I do get social services ringing up saying they’ve got a family.

We contacted Caerphilly Social Services, who have again confirmed that they do not refer families to Jayne’s Baby Bank. If these statements are knowingly false, they risk misleading both donors and recipients—potentially placing families in danger due to the absence of trained oversight.

  1. So I have heard that the rumours are true that Ms Ridsdale is being evicted from her Blackwood shop.

    1. Update: We’ve now reviewed the transcript from today’s livestream, in which she appears to be attempting to cover her tracks regarding the Blackwood property—shifting blame onto the landlord for allegedly not following proper protocol. Her remarks about the toilet are particularly ironic, given she has livestreamed while referencing our FOIA report on the property.

Interestingly, despite previously claiming that all designer and vintage items were sent to Blackwood due to it being their top-selling location, today’s livestream suggests the complete opposite.

She seems to be repeating a familiar pattern: one shop opens, another closes. It’s only a matter of time before it all unravels.

      AI analysis concluded:
“It seems highly likely the individual is either already facing eviction or trying to preemptively control the narrative around a failing location or lease. Indicators include:

-Complaining publicly about the landlord and lease terms.
-Spinning a positive outlook on moving (“destined for the high street”).
-Describing the current space as unsuitable despite initially advocating for it.
-Inconsistencies about what was promised and what was contractually agreed.

Use of ambiguous language regarding the nature of the business (e.g., charity vs. retail).”

      Regards,
      S.

      1. Shall we help accelerate Miss Ridsdale’s inevitable panic? Our undercover shop assistant has confirmed the location of the new store: 14 Pentrebane Street, Caerphilly, CF83 1FR.

        1. Is there an opening date yet for the Caerphilly one? I can’t wait to have a look around it. If it’s anything like the Pontypool one I’ll have Environmental Health there in no time.
Happy to be a Secret Shopper!

        1. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for her to keep up with the lies now, especially since we’ve archived everything. A recent example is her calling “Sherlock” a stalker simply for sharing footage that was sent to us. More will be revealed in due course, once we are legally permitted to do so.
