Hey guys, we've had a rush on customers because the sun had come out.
Fab.
That's just what we want.
So all the shops now, we haven't got any free books.
If I've put free on a book it's because there's damage on it or something like that.
Maybe somebody scribbled on it or something, you know.
So we just put it out for free.
But I haven't got any more free books, okay.
We've given all the free ones away.
When we had the massive book donations, we went through them and I was already going through children's books prior to that because I'd already sent messages to Sammy who was only volunteering a couple of hours a week then.
Can you just make sure all the books are clean?
If they're not clean, they need a wipe down because, well, that's what I've been doing this afternoon is cleaning books again because they're kind of free.
Like this one's come in luck and there's no salvaging this one.
I wouldn't even clean their children's books.
But the other thing is I haven't got any cheap 50p books in any of the shops because we've kept the vintage books till the very last because it's easier to get rid of cheaper stuff quicker or free stuff quicker, isn't it?
So the only books I've got now in any of the shops are vintage collectible or they are special edition books.
For example, this one is a first edition.
This one is an antique copy.
Now, while I totally appreciate nobody's going to pay 10 quid or 5 quid, whatever discount we're on, for a book for a baby, right?
This is one that perhaps you would buy as a special copy for your child because it's, you know, it's an old-fashioned one and you would read it to your child, okay?
So I do appreciate that you're not going to be spending... they start... all the books at the moment start at £3, okay?
Adult books start at £3.50.
That's the way we do it.
And obviously, depending on the offers we've got on, you know, different prices.
But anything 2015, I think it is now, is classed as vintage.
And anything that's like, well, 80s, 90s, I think is antique now.
But I usually put the 70s and the 60s as antique, you know.
That's what I think is antique.
Legal-wise, trading standards-wise, anything that's 10 years old is classed as vintage because it's from a certain period in time.
So just for everybody to be aware, because some people have gone, at the books, yeah, they will be, okay?
Because obviously we've got to get the best price for them.
And at the baby bank, one thing we do well is books.
One thing we know is books, okay?
There's a lot of other places not making any money at all on books.
10 for a pound, some shops, yeah.
Most we've ever taken on a book is under a pound.
Then it was a 50.
Then it was the Harry Potter, so one for 50 pound each.
And then it was 40 pound, I think Chris took, didn't she?
I can't remember what book.
It was a military book.
It was actually up for half price, 20 pound.
And the man said, no.
He said, I'm going to give you the 40 for it, because it's a good cause.
So you can see that obviously we know our books here, you know.
So just for you to be aware, if you're coming in for just cheap children's books, you probably won't get them in our shop at the moment, okay?
Every shop has probably got about 300 to 500 children's books, which are all vintage.
They'd all start at three pounds, obviously 50% off 150, you know, or less if it's 75 or whatever deal we go on.
Or if you were to spend the 20 pound, you could get it in your five pound free because we've got so much stuff with me, you know.
But just for you to be aware of that.
But I've had to clean this batch of children's books again.
I don't know if I've got my clothes.
Because the guy said to me, what are you doing?
I said, cleaning a children's books.
I said, made me ill once.
Oh, that's my bread roll.
He won that brown.
It was pretty much brown, but he won that brown.
I don't know if I can find my cloth now to show him.
No, it's in there but they were bad.
Again, they were stinking, you know, you need to clean your children's books in the house, even if you're not donating them, I think.
I was ill once.
Sue will tell you I was ill.
I was cleaning.
I said to her, look at these children's books, Jaffa cakes and God knows what wedged in between the pages.
And she was talking to me and all of a sudden I just went, sick in the bin.
And I swear it was off the books.
I swear it was off the children's books because they had so much mushrooms and mold and God knows what was going on them.
Yeah, so Jess, we're to be aware guys, but we've picked up because the sun is out, so that's brilliant.
We need a bit of sun.
Keep manifesting it guys.
Keep manifesting it.
