Alright, we saw some stuff this morning, guys.
Yeah, so we've had a think now about how we can reward our managers further, because our volunteer managers do go above and beyond, okay?
So what we've decided is, because obviously we can't gift out cash, because obviously if you're on any type of benefit, or Universal Credit or PIP or anything like that, then it could affect your benefit.
But if it's rewarded to you as in gifted items, as in stock, then you probably will need to tell the Jobcentre that you're receiving it, but obviously it's a gesture of goodwill, okay?
So the items have already had tax on them.
It's a bit like a car boot sale.
The items have already had the tax on them, so you're not going to be liable for any tax on any of the items that you take out of the shop whatsoever.
So we had a little bit of a crash think about what we could do, and I think there's a restriction now on buying things like bottles of wine and things like that as well, which again, the occasional bottle of wine is okay, but obviously if you're buying bottles of wine a week for people,
then obviously that's going to have health impacts as well, isn't it?
So we were a bit like, well, what can we do?
And you're still entitled to the micro meal as well.
But what we need is committed managers, and they need to be following what we're asking them to do.
Like when we say don't move furniture because you're affecting the fire routes, I don't expect to come in and find furniture moved.
I don't expect us to come in and find people sat down doing nothing, or sat on the bench drinking cups of tea and coffee all day.
You need to be working.
You're there to motivate the team of all Aziz's there.
So we had a good think about it.
What we can do.
And that seemed the best course of action.
We still need to record what's going out, because we need to record what's coming in, what's going out, because that's how businesses and charities work, okay?
You cannot just take things for free without telling anybody or recording them, okay?
Which we've had to have a few chats with staff about recently, including money from the till.
Hence that's why we're card only.
Which is working super, may I add.
And can I just say that the takings are up everywhere.
So I'm really glad we made that decision to do it.
There's only a few people that have refused to pay because there's no cash.
And we've got one pocket of individuals that we are trying to facilitate.
So yeah, that's what we're going to do.
It's up to £30.
You can have it from any shop.
It's not a problem if you think, Well, I don't want to have it all from Risca because I'd rather go to Blackwood and a bit more trendier at Blackwood.
Because that's where we put a lot of the designer stuff.
That's fine.
But everything in Blackwood is on a two week hold.
So you wouldn't be able to put it away for two weeks.
You'd have to wait until the two week date is up on the item, okay?
Everything that's up there at the moment has been up there for two weeks, unless it's got a date on it, okay?
If we've got something that's excluded from staff discount, it wouldn't be that item either.
Alright, so just for you to be aware, that's how we're going to do it.
We've been thinking about it for a while, how we can reward our volunteer managers further.
Because they're key holders as well.
They're not just managers, they're key holders.
But then we've had some that's been a right pain in their backside, right?
And we've had some that are absolutely unbelievable and we've been lost throughout them.
So we've got about 60 million boxes this afternoon.
So that's what we've decided to do.
So we don't need a volunteer manager in Blackwood at the moment.
We're okay up there.
We've got one volunteer manager in Pontypool who's doing fantastic.
The shop is looking brilliant.
So that manager will be entitled to it.
So any managers we take on for now, or who are standing, you know, already in the position, they will be entitled to it as well.
I don't know, you might just have to say to the job centre, I don't know.
I've had a look online, you don't really need to declare gifts.
And the other thing is, these are second hand gifts, aren't they?
So the tax, so a bit like a car boot, the tax has already been paid.
Remember when they wanted to tax car booters?
And they did like a survey or an investigation into it and they said, well no, because somebody's already paid the tax on them and they can't tax it twice.
So it shouldn't be a problem.
So we thought this is the best way to do it.
And a lot of our volunteers spend money with us and I've got to force you to take the 75% off.
So that's what we've decided to do.
Okay, so if you want to buy more than £30 worth you can with the 75% off as well, that's fine, you can.
But we can gift you up to £30 worth of stuff.
Whatever you want.
I don't think there's any, there's no restriction on it.
Other than, we wouldn't give you anything from the food bank like the nappies or anything like that because we need that.
And if any of our staff need a food bank or nappies, all they've got to do is ring the number that we have.
And they'll sort you out anyway, so that's not a problem.
So yep, there we are.
So that's just as a thank you to all our volunteer managers.
