So hiya guys, I need to just have a quick chat about volunteering again now.
If you want to volunteer, you can go into the shops, introduce yourself, make yourself known to the managers.
You need to come through me then to make sure that you're suitable to volunteer.
So you can't just start in the shops unless you've spoken to me.
This is because we need to make sure that you fit in with the entire team and that you fit in with exactly our policies going forward as a charity pending.
Because if you're not following our policies, then obviously that could cause a problem once we're a registered charity.
Because if our policy states we do X, Y and Z and you're doing B, C and 5 and not listening, then obviously you're not going to fit in.
So the other thing is you need to expect... these are what we would call out 350 bucks.
I will leave you with 175 in the sale.
Some fantastic stuff in there.
You need to realise that there is a constant supply of donations, a massive constant supply of donations.
We are also very blessed to have all the donations from all the other shops that are shutting down and businesses that are shutting down.
Nine out of ten times they come to us first.
This is why we've had to take on so many different venues and bigger shops and things like that.
Because people know that you're not paying my wage, you ain't paying for my nails done, you're not paying for my car, you're not paying for Dan's car, the volunteers are not charging petrol back to the charity yet.
But by law, if you work for a charity, they have to pay for your dinner and they have to pay for your transport.
Nobody ever says to me, I want petrol, I want bus fare.
Nobody ever says it to me, right?
We give you dinner because we're the food bank, so we wouldn't be a very good food bank if you had to go out and pay five pounds for your dinner every day.
But a registered charity has to pay for your lunch.
So they know, the public know, your businesses, other organisations know that we are non-profit even though we are classed as a business until we register as a charity.
Nice hangers, whoever dropped them off.
Thank you very much.
So I need my volunteers to be aware.
You're going to be, this is why we've put more shelves in, right?
We're going to be having a lot more stock because we haven't even put up the sign on the donation centre yet that is a donation centre and it is full.
You know that guys, you've seen the videos.
It is full, right?
So there's nothing now, right, for me to bring over a carful of nights to every shop.
Okay, now we try and price it make it easier for you and so that all our pricing is generic.
Okay, and we haven't got anybody coming in pricing up a pair of ag, genuine ag boots for £2 and maybe, you know, an un-genuine pair of ag boots for £30 or the same with an only rent or something that's £70 isn't priced up at a pound.
Okay, so we do all that research for you.
We've also got a campaign online to boost vintage records, media, CDs, tapes, VHS, everything comes under and books.
Okay, so we need to make sure our price points are exactly the same throughout the shops.
So it provides continuity for the customers.
So pricing is a legal aspect within the shops.
So if you're not sure of a price, take it to your shop manager, ask your shop manager the price.
If they're not sure, they'll ask me.
Okay, pricing is a legal requirement under the law.
That's lovely, isn't it, that dress?
£2 and what are we?
50% off.
Look at that.
Isn't the colour lovely?
Size 8.
Oh, it looks big, isn't it?
Size 8.
I think if you were a 12, you might get in there.
Maybe even a 14.
That's a generous size that is, guys.
Definitely.
So I need my volunteers and prospective volunteers to be aware that this is a non-stop job.
This amount of stock that's coming in, right, we can't do it much cheaper than a pound an item for clothes, right?
The stock that's coming in is going to be coming in quicker, faster and more.
So if you're looking to volunteer in a nice little charity shop in Cowbridge somewhere, right, that only needs to be dusted and sorted twice a fortnight, right, this is not the shop for you.
This is not the company for you.
Okay, this company takes on massive volumes of stock to prevent it going to landfill.
Okay, we sell it to help pay for the rent, the electric, the water, the insurance for the business and all the insurance we need and whatever other things that we need like stationery and then the rest of it goes back to the public because we're not interested in the money.
We're only interested in saving all of this from landfill.
It started off this to help mothers and it's progressed into saving all of this from landfill.
Okay, my number one priority is saving this from landfill.
My number two priority is giving it back to the community and my choice to give the profits from my company because this is classed as a company and so we're a charity, my choice to give the 100% back and not pay myself a wage, I've chosen to give it to mothers with children under 18 because they were the they were supposed to receive food parcels,
pregnant mothers, half of them didn't get it, they weren't able to buy clothes, yeah, they were told not to take their kids into supermarket but then if they left their kids at home social services would have turned up if there was no parent there and they were single parent.
That's why I chose to put the money back in.
So what I'm saying to you now is that if you cannot handle the amount of donations we get now or we're going to get in the future, you need to apply to a different charity shop to work, a different secondhand shop, a different organization.
Okay, because look we don't fill a bag for 250, it's flying out and it's still full, it's always going to be this full.
Okay, this is what I say to trading standards, I say to environmental health, it's always going to be this full or fuller, it's never going to be empty, it's going to be like a little antique shop in Cowbridge.
So this is the type of volunteer that we're looking for, is people who are interested in saving this volume of stock or more from landfill.
