Alright, so morning guys.
I got quite a bit in the donation center today.
Some big items and so nobody come into the donation center today.
Please don't leave donations with the other units as well as they're busy and they got they got stuff to do and they got forklifts and things back and forth.
There is building works going on on our site as we've got scaffolding up ready to do the solar panels and obviously they're doing other work so just be aware of that.
So we are going to take our electricals off sale so if there's any in the shop and we've missed them and you pick them up to buy them I'm sorry but we're not gonna sell them because we are constantly going through the the books to see what's got to be tested and when so it's easier for us to pull them all off,
retest the batches out there now.
So we've got one date to work with and then we like right we can put that up on the wall all right they've all got to be pat-tested if they haven't sold within a year because at the moment I'm running around the shops trying to check what's sold and what I haven't sold and what needs pat-tested so it's a nightmare and then what we will do is the next batch we'll pull in one of those trolley cages they don't chuck the electricals in there they need to be stacked in there properly guys The voice is going to get broke.
Ready for the next batch that goes out.
And then there are a few things that we've got to update people on.
So customers now, okay, we'll have signs up in the shops as well.
Vintage toys, bears and china dolls are not suitable for children to play with.
And we're not going to be able to sell china dolls to a child if they're on their own.
You'd have to be a parent there if you were buying it.
Antiques and collectible items need to be treated as display items, okay.
Not all our antique items are functional.
You might pick up an antique, I don't know, spade.
Say you pick up an antique spade.
It would be for decoration only, not for digging.
Yeah.
So just for you to be aware of that.
And then obviously parents, toys that contain small parts are not suitable for children under 36 months of age, okay.
And children need to be supervised when playing with toys with small parts.
So we're just going to put that notice up now in the shops this week.
It's handwritten at the moment but we'll go and print it and it'll be up in all the shops and laminated.
So it's just a few warning things we need to put up.
And that's it I think I've got, yeah, all our insurances are up to date.
I've checked that.
We've got quite a bit of insurance.
We're covered for quite a lot.
It's about £200 a year I think we pay.
Which is not a bad price but we haven't made a claim see so that's good.
Yeah, so just be aware.
And the other thing, you know, when you're buying teddy bears, if you're buying teddy bears for children under 36 months, you also need to be aware that we check them.
If they've got loose eyes or loose noses or loose tags, we take them off sale anyway for safety.
But just for our parents to be aware, yeah.
And when you're buying toys and clothes and things like that off the sites, you know, the cheaper sites online, you buy them off the app, the teemoos, the wish and all the rest of it.
Be aware that they're not CE regulated by the UK.
So you don't know what the chemical components are in those items and you don't know the safety regulations have actually been met with the UK standards.
Alright, so I just thought I'd add that to you.
If you get, if my staff get anything in from Teemo or Wish or Joom or Alibaba or anything like that, can you, you know that it's definitely from there, can you put them to one side with the pack testing staff so I can check it and then we can make a decision then,
wherever we put it out.
Okay, because obviously some of the items haven't got fire labels in and we don't know what the chemical composition of a baby's toy is that they might put in their mouth because they don't meet the, I don't know if it's the EU standards anymore, but they don't meet the British standards today.
So it might be that we wouldn't sell those items and that we would destroy them.
Same with cot bumpers now and also any cots, mattresses, moses, baskets, we're not taking them at the moment, okay?
And all of the mattresses in them anyway would need fire labels if you've still got any in the shops.
But sell them off, we'll get them gone.
It's not a, it's not a safety regulation we can't have.
I mean it's my choice that we're not going to be stocking certain ones anymore.
Because A, they don't move, you know, and then they just, because it's like a basket material, sometimes they get chipped about and broke and then they're damaged and we've got to get rid of them anyway.
So we're not going to be taking those items anymore.
I can't think of as anything else now.
Make sure like your cushions, you know scatter cushions like we got there.
Make sure they got fire labels on the cushion and the cases.
Just, you know, and check each other, you know, because while somebody might check their area for electricals, it's quite easy to miss something amongst all of this stock, isn't it?
You know, so go over other people's work and say, oh there's a lamp there, that's got to come off, you know.
We're all here to help each other and work as a team, so we pick each other up when we make mistakes.
Yeah, and similar, if you've got items that you think, well I don't know if we can sell that because it's a bit damaged or whatever or missing parts, put that aside as well for me to check.
Don't put it in landfill because it could be that we can just gift it out.
If you've got a place set and it's missing, like I don't know, the doors off the house, we could just gift it out as long as it's not dangerous, rather than it go into landfill.
So quite a bit there this week to just keep on top of guys, but it's always good, isn't it, to have a safety update and just be a little bit.
It's always good to have a refresh, isn't it?
I've got to pick up the manual handling booklet.
Don't forget, there's plenty of videos online for you to watch.
And we are organising some more training and I am, I think, I think the same people who did the manual handling book has now got a fire safety book, so I'll get that one out as well.
So not only have you got interactive videos to watch, but we've also got it in written format as well.
So I'll order that now while I remember.
Right, see you in a bit guys.
