So I'm in the middle of doing a bin check guys.
Now this is for all my volunteers, future volunteers, current volunteers.
You're gonna have to be more ruthless with what you're not throwing out, okay?
You're gonna have to start reusing stuff more.
Like that can be used, we can package something up in there and zip it up, toys or whatever.
CDs without covers, nothing wrong with them.
Reduce them down 50p or if they're buying a couple, give them for free.
Hand keys, we don't really sell hankies, but I love the hankies.
Alright, dolls clothes, yeah don't bin that.
Dolls little bits, don't bin them.
I don't know what they are but they might come in handy for something.
Are they for canes?
They might be for canes, for the beans.
Possibly a gardening item.
Jewelry, bits of jewelry keep because people buy the beads.
A little tub there look, needs to wash out and it can keep your beads in there and somebody will buy the beads.
Lego we need for, you know, don't chuck anything like, no that's vintage, don't chuck it out.
Okay, so I've gone through the DVDs.
Yes, there are some fakes in there and yes, we can't sell fakes, you know, but we can salvage the, they can be given out to somebody who's doing craft.
And we can salvage a bit of paper we can use before it goes in the bin.
So people can see, you know, manufacturing DVDs in the back.
And then they can be sold or kept if you've got any broken cases.
But you'd be surprised, you know, people buy them.
If you put them in a bundle now of ten, put them up for two quid, they'll go, they will.
And things like this can't go in the bin.
There's nothing wrong with these.
Yeah.
So they're fine.
So I need you to be more all volunteers now and prospective volunteers because there's a few that I know are starting.
I think we've got about three, possibly four new starters this week.
Oh, and some of those I'm going to try and wash.
Um, that one's a Reebok.
It's got, I don't know if that mark's going to come off.
I'll have to ask the stain queen.
Right.
That's a Reebok.
And then we've got a monsoon shirt and then another t-shirt.
It was a nice t-shirt.
It felt nice.
But then I got a jumper, but I'm going to have a look on vintage because this jumper is damaged, but it looks like one of the collectible ones.
So whereas we might have got 30, 40 for this jumper on vintage previously, we might only get, you know, I don't know, lucky to get a fiver with that.
But then somebody might be able to darn it cause it's wool.
So we're making, the thing is it's not just, we're not just doing it from our own ethics, trying to rescue everything and legally.
So we're not chucking stuff out, but we're really, really, really, you know, making a good chance to rescue all of this stuff.
Right.
Making a massive effort to rescue everything.
So please be very selective.
What's going in the bins guys.
I go back through them.
I chuck stuff in the bin and I go back through them.
I think, right, what can I do with that?
See my Nana Brenda, she would have been able to darn that and you wouldn't have even seen it.
I'll let you know.
Anyway, what I'll do is research it a bit cause it's a bit mucky as well.
Clam Royal.
I don't know.
I'll have to have a look, see what they're going for.
I think it's wool.
Should say on the label, shouldn't it?
And I'll let you know what we get for it.
So you can see then what we've made from it or, you know, what we've given out.
But very worst case scenario, somebody could have that for free for a jumper for the garden, going out dog walking or something, right?
So be really selective while you're chucking away going forward now because the recycling laws have increased this year as well.
So, and we are, you know, we are very selective while we chuck in the bin.
A lot of other charity shops will have been binning a lot of stuff and we don't.
We just let it sit there, tick over, and then it goes.
So yeah, just be ruthless now.
Once you've thrown stuff out, go back over it, check each other.
There's no need to say, nah, chuck it in the bin, right?
But just get it back out and say, look, can it be salvaged?
Can it be used?
They can.
If you put them together, you've got to be passionate about saving stuff, guys, right?
You put them together like that.
A little bit of string, somebody will buy them.
You know, we've made 50p and somebody's using that.
Somebody supported us by doing it and, you know, we've prevented that going to landfill.
I think that for plants like beans and stuff, we might be using these.
I don't know a lot more plants, me and Carl.
I don't know, they're a bit harsh.
I don't know if they damage the plant.
Have a look Carl, let me know what you think.
