I'm Jayne, and I am the founder of Jayne's Baby - (284 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

I'm Jayne, and I am the founder of Jayne's Baby Bank and Food Bank fundraising shop, registered CIC. This is my son Dan, this is Chiara, and this is Sammy. We started during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, I was a student nurse, and I got ill, and I wasn't able to work on the wards because I was considered high risk. I felt very guilty that my colleagues were out there working hard.

I could see from social media that there were lots of mothers, single mothers, struggling to gain access to things like clothes. I saw that lots of single mothers, I was a single mother myself, being scrutinised for taking their children into the supermarkets during the pandemic. And then a third aspect was that we could see on social media the amount of people fly-tipping.

So we ran the baby bank, the food bank, and the donation bank from our driveway. And we said to people, whatever you've got, drop it off on our driveway. And then five years down the line, we've now got five shops, a massive donation centre. We've had to buy industrial racking, and we're looking to further expand.

We've registered as the CIC, and we help mothers all over south-east Wales. We're not interested in the money. I don't take a wage. Dan don't take a wage. Sammy doesn't take a wage. It's all voluntary. All our other volunteers, it's all voluntary. Nobody takes a wage. It's all about recycling.

And then our chosen niche is that any profits that we make go back into helping mothers in the community with children under 18.
