Alright, guys - 16 Jul 2025 - (632 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Alright, guys.
Right, we've been sort of slow and steady today.
We sold a table.
That's going to London.
That's brilliant, isn't it?
The table and chairs.
Don't forget we're 75% off.
I said to the girls, we need to get a big sign up, do we?
And then I'll get some posters printed.
We've spent £20.
Get a £5 free stop.
Because we've got loads, haven't we?
Fair play.
So we can do that for a long time.
And then if we get down, you know, which I doubt we ever will, but if we get a reduction in stock, in a blue moonlight, once in a blue moon, then we can take the posters down, can't we?
But I think we're okay.
I think we're good to go with that, especially with the amount of books that's just come in.
Nobody tell Dawn, nobody tell Dawn.
Yeah, so somebody just queried about what their 16-year-old brought home with their allowance.
They were a bit like, oh my god, they brought this home from the shop.
Is that okay?
Yeah, it is.
If they're 16, they get a £20 store allowance as well.
There are some restrictions.
We do write dates on things.
And it's potentially old stock or low-value stock that we let them take straight away.
But if it's been here two weeks, sometimes we restrict stuff completely.
For example, we've got that £2,000 painting.
We wouldn't let anybody take that home on allowance.
But there could be other things that have been hanging around for a while, you know.
We might have £40 on it, but we might let it go.
All right.
But everything is recorded.
We've got books.
We record everything.
We record damages, spillages, anything really.
You know, stuff that gets damaged in the washing machine.
Even if it's a £50 t-shirt and it's been ripped up in the washing machine, we'd write it down, damaged t-shirt.
If somebody's come down here and knocked off something or a customer's knocked off something by accident, we record it all.
Okay?
Because that's how you should run a business, whether it's not for profit or for profit.
These are all pound clothes, but I was thinking of taking them with me to put some online.
But we haven't gone that far because we've had two horrible comments today about our fundraising.
So, you know, we can't be doing with people.
So I just block them now.
We're too busy.
I haven't got time to get in arguments with people anymore.
I really haven't.
I can't be bothered with them.
And I'm fed up with trying to justify that we're legally allowed to be here.
Do you think the council would allow me to open this door?
The police, trading standards, the Ghostbusters, God, you know, whoever else, right?
Would allow me to open this door and trade if I wasn't allowed to do it.
Think about it.
I'd be shut down, wouldn't I?
Right?
So I'm fed up with arguing with people, honestly.
If you want to go and support another group, go and support another group.
I don't care, right?
I got all the support I need you.
Look, look.
The amount of donations.
Oh, yes.
And this quality.
It's not just, you know, because anybody can drop stuff off, can't they?
But we don't have junk, do we, Loretta?
It's all good stuff in here.
Second time Loretta's been shopping in here today.
Second time.
Do you want any books?
Oh, goodness.
Too many books.
Too heavy as well, isn't it?
I know.
The lady just brought them down now.
Bloodline, what?
Some nice books in here.
Lovely.
Some really nice John Grisham, Ian Rankin, some really good uns.
But, oh, I could borrow you.
Can I borrow you to do my trip?
Right, we've been sort of slow and steady today.
We sold a table.
