So i'm off to send this into the recycling now - 3 Oct 2023 - (863 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
So I'm off to send this into the recycling now.
We should get about £70 from this in vouchers.
So there's £70 in vouchers there and we'll go to whatever we're buying at that time.
Whether it be nappies, baby food or a food bank or whatever we're buying at that time.
So yeah, you're used and unused in cartridges.
If you've got some lying around that don't fit your printer, yes, drop them off.
All of these here were really like abstract ones.
So if we get £70 for this, that'd be good.
Because if I get one that's frequently used, you know, then I put them in the shops for a pound first.
And I put a sticker on saying can you bring me back when I'm empty so I can recycle it.
Because then we get the pound and we get the £1.25 as well in the voucher, don't we?
So you can do this, you can use our number.
I have put it on before, it's not on there now, it goes inside the packet.
But these were like really abstract ones, like orange ink and stuff.
So hopefully we'll get £70 for them.
But you can do that all over the country first because you've only got to take it into your local test scores.
And then the other thing is we had a faulty item.
So we sold the item because it was still a good display item.
It was a Christmas tree, it still looked nice.
But we cut the plug off.
So if you've got any faulty electrical items, don't just chuck them out the front for the scrap.
Cut the cable off for us, for the copper.
It's the precious metals I'm looking for, the copper, the gold, the silver.
Titanium.
Things that take up very, very little room.
Because you know we haven't got a lot of room.
But weigh in a lot heavier.
Because if I could lift fridges and cookers and freezers and all that.
I would do it.
Because there's a lot of money in scrap.
But I can't.
And this takes up limited room, doesn't it?
I think you get more if you strip the wire.
But I haven't actually stripped any wire yet.
But we've got a collection bin in Risca Shop.
But you can take it into any shop.
And just cut it off and say, we've got this for you.
Same with the mobile phones.
Just take them in.
If we can get them working.
I usually sell them for a five of the mobile phones.
Or sometimes we have the knockers in and we get like 30 for them.
But if they're not working then we send them off to Envirophone.
Lucky to get like 250.
But 250 is 250, isn't it?
You know, you're halfway there to nappies then.
So every penny counts.
We'll start... now we're getting ourselves a bit more sorted.
The girls are working so hard.
Everybody is working so hard in Risca.
Now that's getting a bit more on an even keel there.
Pontypool is running like clockwork.
I need volunteers over there guys.
Blackwood has just smashed it.
Absolutely smashed it up there.
Bargur is back up and running.
Looking good.
We could do with another shop.
I've got enough stock now for another shop.
But no rails.
So I'd have to buy rails.
Now we'll start doing the recycling program.
Where we take in your rubbish.
And it gets collated then.
Can you remember when you were in school and used to taking bottle tops and packets and different things like that for different saving money.
Like we take stamps and then we go through the stamps and we sell the stamps.
I don't send them off for recycling.
But you remember in school when you used to keep like the foil milk bottle tops and things like that.
We're going to start doing that on a massive scale.
Because one of our followers, she's raised over £30,000 by collecting litter basically.
For recycling purposes.
So we will start doing that.
Get a couple of wheelie bins and then you can take it into any shop.
The staff or myself will upload it.
Things like cat food pouches.
I think it's like shrink wrap.
Tesco's do it now don't they?
But if you're at a charity, pending, then you can actually cash it in as a reward like.
Which would be good wouldn't it?
But I know we got one follower, she's worked very very hard over the years and she's raised over £30,000 I think for other charities.
And you just send it off and they just pick it up in these massive boxes because I asked her about it before.
So we'll get all that done.
But you're very big on landfill, you know that.
I like that Christmas tree.
Rather than it going to landfill, I've got it up for £1 tomorrow as a display.
And we're going to recycle the table.
We're very big on preventing landfill.
You know that guys.
So thank you all for your support.
And I'll try and remember to let you know how many vouchers we get.
I usually do anyway.
