Right, so i think i'm live a minute - 6 Jan 2023 - (3,606 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Right, so I think I'm live a minute.
It keeps... I keep losing connection.
Yeah, so if the toys don't go down this week now, we're still doing filler bag for a pound both shops.
If they don't, I'll give Margaret a shout and see if she's started... restarted her collection for Africa and she can come and wipe us out of toys.
And then they'll be used.
I'll try not to use my connection.
I did clear off the table a bit last night.
I'm starting to pile up again.
This is going on the wall.
I think Roy's putting it up on the wall upside down.
So if it's either in that corner or that corner.
So all of that would be up then.
So that's fab.
I've ordered the boxes from IKEA for this.
They might be going up on the wall.
These are coming... these came from the shop clearance but they're not very sturdy.
So I think we might just sell them.
Jan and Sam worked lovely over here to get it all up nice and tidy.
Everybody wants to buy this.
Now I painted it.
So we've still got some baby stuff to go out but this is accessible for mums if they want to come in.
So yeah we've had some nappies in.
Nappy Fairies must have been in.
I've got to do an order.
I'm going to do it out the paper because I think we got about a hundred in there.
So I'll wait till the paper gets to about a hundred and then do some nappies.
They've taken some more of this racking, the new racking, up the new shop.
What are they up to?
Get up there guys.
Get up there and see what they're up to.
Because they won't send me any photos.
So this is all I got left now.
So this will even go into the new shop.
I've got my volunteer managers over at Pontypool viewing a shop.
It is a shop I want.
So that's under consideration by the landlord at the moment.
See if you bring the rent down a little bit for us.
Which should be useful.
The racking from Aberbargoed shop has been evicted and is down here.
But that's handy now because it can go at the back wall to our sorting area.
So when the big deliveries come in, or big donations come in, they can be put on the wheel trolleys, wheeled straight to the back area in the green trays from Tesco's.
So that should be good.
So this now we'll probably store.
It was for the baby boutique room we were going to do.
But that's full of donations.
So we'll just store it now.
Unless we sign a contract for a shop this week.
And if we sign the contract for the new week, it'll probably go over there because there's no racking on a thing over there.
It's just empty shops as far as I can see on the pictures.
Because you know me, I just take on a shop without going to look at it.
Obviously.
Like I've seen this one in the dark, didn't I?
I've viewed this one in the dark.
Blimey worked an effort, blimey.
A month in the dark, remember?
So I lose my connection a bit I'm trying to think what we've done.
I've had sizing cubes have come back for the children's clothes to make it a bit easier.
Because I think I got some older ones as well.
Like 10 to 11.
Because they don't always stand out on the rail.
And sometimes we don't get enough to put on the rail.
We just got a teenage rail.
So we've got 13 to 14 there.
And then 12 to 13.
So I need someone to come in and put them on.
Somebody wants to do that.
I've had some thank you cards in.
I always have the little thank you notes if you've got any of them.
Because we give them out to businesses and stuff they'll help us.
And it's not always nice enough for them to have a card.
On the supermarkets periodically and what have you.
There's my beverage for today.
You know I don't function unless I got IV Pepsi Max cherry.
Well if you drink normal Pepsi Max now having that.
So I got those from the pound shop to go up there now.
So what's the guys in the council said?
Environmental health and trading standards.
As long as something is hooked and not just resting.
We can do that.
So I spotted them and I thought.
Oh yeah they'd be handy.
So I've had to bend them back a bit because obviously we don't want nothing just going over there do we?
So I put them up because we've got.
I've just had another load of handbags in.
I got a dune bag with it.
I love dune in that lovely.
Another bags there.
I had this one last night.
I did put it on but it was late because I was repricing.
I haven't heard of this brand and I can't find it online.
Let me know if it's one of these posh brands.
Sweet room.
It's a lovely bag.
It's good quality bag too.
You know it's lovely.
We do I think we do two pound on the bags unless it's designer.
We asked a bit more like I'd probably asked about 20 for that but it's got damage so it won't be 20 probably be in the two pound section but in a lovely it's lovely color.
It's more of a pinky.
Work boots we've had in size 12 or work trainers.
Got some lovely donations today.
Lovely and we've taken some of the dashery up the top shop so I don't know what they're up to up there.
So we got a couple of cots in.
I need them gone because they take up a bit of room.
I've had to move some stuff by year to get the big racking in because this was clear where Alan sorted it.
Thank you for that Alan.
So yeah we got a big job to do now the weekend.
We're not gonna do it today.
He's gone to pick up some glass cabinets.
There's a shop Langstone Newport.
Got two cabinets for me.
They said come and pick them up.
She's gone to pick up them so we can extend that down a little bit.
I need this mattress gone.
20 pound to follow us.
It's a nice one.
It's good condition.
It's lovely.
Look at it.
I don't know what brand it is.
Someone's nicked my signs from out the front or I just pulled.
When we pulled up and we've seen the sign was nicked and it was like locked you know.
I laugh my head off.
You know honestly they think nicking my signs is gonna stop me like.
So funny like that's how infuriated they are like.
They're nicking signs.
So I've had a little cleaner the drive because with the leaves to come down it can be a bit slippery.
So we've got a tidy up here.
Keeping the wood off our bed because we don't want it.
What you don't want see is to have fabrics and stuff out because that can cause a problem.
So we've taken as much fabric off as we can there.
We've got some wood left for some DIY jobs.
So if anybody thinks oh a little I can fix a problem down there for him.
No problem come down.
I want to clear this bit up by ear now.
It'll all be rubbish to pull by ear a bit.
The driver come up nice.
We had more woods there donated.
More paints.
And I'm still using that first lot of paint that we had from somebody's before we even had this shop.
And I just mixed them all together remember.
So I'll be on that.
We've got some super grip.
Non-slip ceramic.
Now we probably won't use that super grip.
So if anybody wants to come down and buy that they can.
Paint I'll use.
I'm not going to be using stain.
Ask if you're interested in the items out by ear.
Ask because some of it I'm using and some of it I'm not.
So but like masonry paint will go well in there because it's all breeze blocks here.
So mix it all together.
See what happens in there.
They got plans for the pallets.
They need more pallets.
This has been sold.
This I've got no use for.
And I don't want to bin it.
Universal bonding compound.
I've got no use for that.
Come and get it.
It's free if you want it.
This has been sold.
That one they're using just so on.
So we can't have that one.
I've got to clean up these pops today now.
But they I think I planted bulbs.
So I think there's daffodils in there.
Yeah there's something coming up.
But there look.
And I know there's daffodils in the Aberbargoed one.
So don't check the compost out guys.
Just leave the the baby balms in Aberbargoed because they are ready to go for spring.
So yeah see where the tree is.
Look this bit there.
We get a bit of.
So I did just put.
Even the mould and middle do clean now.
We get a lot of that inch on the outside clearance says.
A bit of bleach.
Clean that off lovely.
And a brush.
A bit of elbow grease.
That'll come off lovely.
So we've cleared this the best we can now because they know the next job I won't done is this gazebo frame up.
Because it buys us some time if we've got to cover out Jersey.
Like when we have a busy day.
Like we got a lot of building work going on.
And we can leave it out here and sort it from out here.
Rather than dragging it in there.
And then blocking up our walkways in there.
So yes I want to clear this.
Best I can.
So that when they bring the donations in.
This wood will be gone by then.
They bring it round on their flatbed trolley.
And then they'll come up here.
This will be gone.
And that grey pram is available.
A lady asked me about that.
And I can't find your message.
I must have deleted it.
I've seen it on the notification bar.
If you feel come and get it.
And that orange one.
That Cotico one or whatever.
Is that still there?
And that lamp lovely.
So that this then will be a walkway.
And we might even paint it red.
To stop people putting anything on it.
So that they go straight up into the sorting area.
And then we're just gonna cordon that off.
Probably with just a tape or something.
So that if somebody says.
Oh can I have that?
Yeah they can just pass it over and give it to you.
Because we need the stock gone.
What we don't need is the stock being piled up.
In side rooms everywhere.
Because we've got too much.
We've got too much stock.
So I'm gonna get some more bags.
That we sold some bags off there.
We haven't sold any since they've been up there.
But since New Year.
What have we been?
The third day open.
Sold bags.
So I think if people haven't had bags for Christmas.
We've had a couple of mums come in.
I think maybe with their Christmas money.
I think.
Because they've come in and one customer was here nearly two hours yesterday.
Having a browse around.
Because we've sold stuff out of the.
I think there was a Michael Kors purse one.
There's a there was another one in there.
One next.
Perhaps it was River Island.
That went.
I think people have seen stuff.
Because obviously the stuff in here is a bit more.
Oh there's a lady asking me about that tea set.
There's a clock.
Coffee pot.
Biscuit thing.
Sugar and milk.
And I think it's four mugs.
You know that's considered purchase.
So they've gone away.
Had a look what they've had for Christmas and come back.
Haven't they?
We will.
We can slightly come down on prices on things.
You know that.
Everything is just.
We've looked online.
They're coming up as like 90 pound.
Most trainers.
We put 30 on them.
You come in and say.
Oh you take 25.
Don't take 20.
Yeah.
You know we will.
At the end of the day.
We hang our room to keep all this stock.
Have we?
So this is our next.
Once we get our racking up.
This is our next project.
We want this cleared.
Because this is a dumping ground here.
I think what happens is people come and they're doing something.
And because it's the kitchen and we keep the stationary behind there.
And everything else.
They put it down.
And then they go off and do another job.
And you forget.
You've put it down like.
So this bit by year is going to be gutted now.
This month.
So that I can have this.
So that you can just come and sit down with your tea and coffee by year.
Keep an eye on the kids while they're playing.
And then.
Because we can't increase at the moment.
I mean we can't increase food wise anyway.
Because we're too busy.
There's no way we were going to get to the stage where we're going to be doing jack of potatoes.
And I don't know chips and spaghetti or whatever.
There's.
I can't see us ever getting to that level.
Because we're just too busy with the shop anyway.
But it would be nice to offer like tea cakes and things.
Or cake.
Because we've got a couple of bakers as well see.
So it would be nice to put them through their food hygiene.
And let them bake as well wouldn't it.
And they can offer their cakes out.
And you know obviously all that would go through the correct authorities and what have you.
But we can't do that yet.
Because we're just swamped with donations.
So we need people in.
We can be flexible.
Just turn up on a day you're free either of the shops.
Because you know Paul and Julia They like their lovely.
Yes.
So just turn up there.
If you don't like me turn up there.
Vice versa.
But yeah yeah.
Pop down.
There's always something to do.
We've always got a bag of something that needs to go out.
General tidying.
You know.
Always something to do.
So that's our next project there.
So what we're gonna have to do now today and tomorrow is cordon that off.
And have customers in that area.
Hopefully we'll get it done.
It might come in Sunday as well.
See how I feel.
But I don't think I can serve in this shop.
I know I can serve.
We can serve in the top shop.
Because of the square footage is lower.
But I haven't had confirmation yet to serve.
So I will put a sign up that we're only open for building work.
If you want to come in and say alone.
But I don't think I can serve you from this shop.
Because I haven't had the go-ahead yet from trading standards to serve on a Sunday.
But I can at the top shop.
But I don't know if they're gonna be there.
So but they're up to no good up there.
They won't tell me what they're doing.
Go and have a look guys.
Go and see what they're up to.
Let me know.
We've got some guitars in.
One of them is good condition.
They've got all the strings.
The other two are gonna be needless stringing I think.
But they're okay for kids to play like you know for practice.
So I'm gonna finish the drive now.
Because I don't want that to be slippery.
Get those couple of leaves up.
I got another cleaning issue over there I'm gonna clean up.
And then I might see if I can get up there.
If I can reach.
Oh I can't I've got to be honest.
I evicted most of the spiders when I come in.
Because it was like arachnophobia in here when I first came in.
I had to put a pack of mack on and do the hood up and come in with a big stick.
But here I get a lot of build up here with cobwebs.
So we might have to evict the spider from there.
Because he's building webs all the time and doing my head in.
Yeah I feel a lot better.
I wish I hadn't taken time off Christmas.
A lot of people were ill over Christmas.
I don't know whether I was a bit ill.
And I think it's the old Christmas thing in it.
I think I would be better if I'd just come into work.
Even if I won't open.
Because I'd be motivated to do something you know.
And this is where I miss having my car.
So I might go and get another car.
Because I could have just popped down then.
Popped back couldn't I?
I haven't needed my car up until now.
Because I've been stuck in the shop.
So I haven't needed a car.
But I might go and get another one I think now.
Because I am starting to miss it now and again.
So yeah we got quite a bit of a shift here.
That mattress is still there.
We've got him at £450.
Obviously we take offers on that one.
That's lovely that one is.
And then we've got that one over there as well.
With £20 for followers or whatever.
You know what it's like guys.
Yeah so just pop down.
I mean if you're a DIYer and you want to come in.
Come in.
We've got loads of DIYers.
But there's always individual jobs to do.
So don't feel like you're coming in and taking over somebody else's job you know.
Because there's always little projects you can do elsewhere.
Or if you think oh they could do with some shelves.
If I put some hooks across there now.
It's not a problem like.
And whatever you need we can go and get.
So if you like you need this material to do this.
We're going to get it.
You know.
So don't ever think you're coming in and taking over somebody else's job.
Or you're stepping on somebody else's toes with a DIY.
Because you're not.
Because there's always different projects to work on.
So yeah.
That was lovely Donation we had off the one day.
Do we have these in too?
I don't know this brand.
I've got a list of stuff to do.
It just keeps getting longer my list.
Yeah so that's a nice watch.
It's really heavy.
And then the other one.
It is the brand.
Because sometimes people just put boxes in don't they?
But it is that brand there.
Liska.
There you go.
So I don't know let me know what the price is selling it for second hand guys.
We'll go cheaper than what eBay says.
So if eBay says they're selling at ten pound.
You know we'll go cheaper.
Because we want to say that we're the cheapest.
So yeah.
I'm gonna do the drive.
I got to do a bit of cleaning over there.
And then I might put them up.
He's gone to get two glass cabinets now.
So they I don't know how much they retail at those glass cabinets.
Probably when I think when I bought them years ago.
They were about fifty quid.
They're just a lovely donation again isn't they?
So I don't know how to bring you on camera.
How do you bring people on camera so you can comment?
Just add people do you?
Couldn't add guests.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Tons of photo frames you guys and pictures.
Honestly you know we do our deal.
We do like three for the pound on pictures.
Don't buy frames.
Last time I bought a frame from watch shop.
Just for a little certificate you know.
It was $5.49 for a new frame.
I mean that's that's not that's more than a minimum wage isn't it?
It's more than half a shift of minimum wage.
It's more than 30 minutes work $5.49.
So.
Oh you can see it can't you?
Can you comment?
Oh Jessica?
Oh no.
I don't know.
Perhaps nobody wants to talk to me.
I am worried.
I talk to myself all day.
Don't worry about it.
It's when I argue with myself I go look out girl.
Right so I gotta go and do some work now.
I'm gonna clean that drive.
That's gonna be a problem with that Pagola now because all that mess that we regularly get on that drive is gonna be on the top of that Pagola.
So we're gonna be cleaning that up on a regular basis.
Yes desperate for volunteers.
Desperate for shoppers.
All our offers are on because we need to clear the stock.
So give us a shout out.
I'll try and do some more walk arounds now when we get a bit tidier and show you what it's like.
Get our racking up now and it'd be ideal for us.
Thanks guys.
It keeps... I keep losing connection.
Yeah, so if the toys don't go down this week now, we're still doing filler bag for a pound both shops.
If they don't, I'll give Margaret a shout and see if she's started... restarted her collection for Africa and she can come and wipe us out of toys.
